Pregnant. What Does Amniotic Fluid Index Indicate?

hi i am 30 weeks pregnant and my amniotic fluid index is 25 cms single live intra uterine gestational sac presentation : cephalic placental position : posterior wall middle segment grade : I maturity liquor : excessive, AFI : 25 gestational age 30 weeks weight : 1.2 grams edd : 20-02-2013 previously it is 26 -02-2013 lmp : 26-03-2012, irregular periods, pcod changes

I do not like the way that this reads as it is hard to interpret. Also, I am not working with any knowledge of your pregnancy. Here is what I glean:

You are pregnant at 30 weeks with a baby that is head down, with a placenta towards the top of the uterus, and an amniotic fluid index that is elevated. The AFI is an ultrasound measure of the volume of fluid in the sac. The most common cause of an elevated AFI, or polyhydramnios, is gestational diabetes. This is more common in women with a history of PCOD. Ask your doctor about this and if it is a concern. It should be followed weekly.
