Pregnant With High Blood Pressure. Could Constipation Be The Reason?

Hi. My wife was pregnant and Monday's doctor visit for the 39 weeks her blood pressure was high for the first time in the pregnancy. The doctor decided to induce birth and we had a lovely boy. However her blood pressure is still high and we remember that she hasn't evacuate since Sunday. Could constipation be the cause of her still high blood pressure? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi,
Thanks for your question.
I don't think constipation could have caused her persistant high blood pressure. Pregnancy induced high blood pressure may take upto 6 weeks to settle & if it is too high she may need medicine to control it. Most likely it will settle soon. If not she may have to see a physician for help.
She should take high fibre diet & planty of fluids to ease her constipation. She should take pain killers if required & a glycerine suppository may prove helpful for her.
Take care.
