Prescribed Lisinopril After Heart Attack. Lowered Dosage After Creatinine Levels Lowered. Due To Medicine?

My husband had a heart attack and was prescribed Lisinopril. He has been taking 20 mg bid. His creatinine levels have gone from 1.1 and are now at 3.1. His doctor has lowered his dose to 10 mg bid. Should his level get lower on a lower dose if the Lisinopril is the cause? What other medications could replace the Lisinopril and not cause the creatinine levels to increase?

Hello,
LISINOPRIL is an a ace inhibitor and is used to treat high blood pressure but in many cases it can cause bothersome side effects.
It can result in urinary problems like passing of protein in urine, worsening of existing kidney conditions and increase of BUN and creatinine levels of blood.
The best way to treat is to reduce the dose of lisinopril and if the high level of creatine persists even after reduction of lisinopril, then the medicine is changed.
Thanks
