Prescribed Terbinafine For Fungal Nail Infection. Concerned About Taking Higher Dose Of Birth Control Pills
Hi, I've just been prescribed Terbinafine for a fungal nail infection. The Doctor has advised me to take two birth control pills a day from now on, as she says Terbinafine can make the pill less effective. I'm slightly concerned taking two birth control pills a day as can't it increase my chances of cancer? Many thanks for any help or advice, Ashleigh

I didnt find anywhere that there is a significant contraceptive failures or any specific drug interactions between Terbinafine and OC pills.
If you are in dilemma,just discuss with your treating dermatologist about topical therapy for fungal nail infection. Topical Amorolfine,ciclopirox olamine,terbinafine are available as nail-lacquers.
