Prescribed Norothisterone To Delay Periods. Slight Cramps, Bleeding After Having Medicine. Is It Normal?

Hi, I have been prescribed norothisterone to delay my period. I was due to start my period between 4-5 days later than prescribed and therefore would have been in the window of opportunity. I took my first tablet yesterday felt slight cramp and had some slight bleeding, I have taken two further tablets and am having slight spotting bleeding,is this normal. I am due to be on holiday for a week from Saturday and am unsure whether it would be better for me to stop taking the tablets and if so would i have a period as normal or continue as the bleeding should stop? thanks for any advice

Hello ma'am.

At times, although rarelt norethisterone can result in a bleed, which should subside with time. This is a hormone containing pill and thus can have this side effect.

If you wish to have your period you need to discontinue the medication and you should see your period within 3-7 days after discontinuation. Although some women may experience their period earlier or later as well.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
