Prescribed Plavix After Had Signs Of Stroke. Can It Cause Confusion?

can plavix cause confussion in a female 85 yrs old. she is a smoker and drinks brandy. smokes about 15 to 20 cigarettes per day and i would suspect 4 to 5 ounces of brandy a day also. she says she feels that she trembles, but it is not visible. however she is somewhat confused . she suffered signs of stroke warnings about 3 months ago. was hospitalized and the diagnoses was stroke warning. she was given plavix and told to reduce or stop smoking and drinking. she is my mom and very stuburn. can that misture cause her to be confussed.....

hi,
Plavix donot cause confusion. she must be having some other neurological problem. the possibilities like hyponatremia, CO2 narcosis and cortical infarcts in the brain should be ruled out.
Her age (85) is no small to ignore and any minor problem if not attended, may worsen and may result in frank degeneration. i suggest she is better hospitalized and evaluated.
all the best.
