Prescribed Steroids For Muscle Virus. Difficulty Walking. How Long Will Virus Last?

My husband has been diagnosed with a muscle virus which he now has since April and he does not seem to be getting any better. He has been prescribed steroids and told to continue taking them that a virus can be slow to shift. His right leg is the worst at present and some days he has great difficulty walking. How long can this type of virus last?

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The viral infections of the muscle can last for weeks sometimes. Taking steroids can decrease the progress of any associated nerve damage. He can start with passive stretching exercises till then to maintain the muscle strength.
