Prolonged Periods. Never Had Painful Menstruation, Cramps, Bloating. Reason For Long Periods?
Hi, I m Sarai and I m 15. There have been about 3 cases in which I ve had my period for an extended time, the first was 19 days then 28+ days and then went back to normal now it has re-occurred and today is the 21st day.. Ever since my first period in December 2008, I ve never had painful menstruation , cramps , or bloating of any sort, what might this be?
Hi Sarai,
The occasional irregularity as is seen in your cycles is quite common for your age and can be expected to settle in a couple of years. If you are sexually active and not on any contraception, you should be watchful. This disturbance occurs most often due to hormonal imbalance and if you experience difficulty from this, see your gynecologist for an evaluation and treatment. Maintain a proper body weight, avoid junk food and do some regular exercise at least 5 days in a week. Take care.
