Pulsating Pain In The Back. Numbness In The Leg. Cause Of Pain?

I am currently experiencing a throbbing/pulsating pain in the middle to back of my left thigh. The pain is faster than a heartbeat and send numb pulsations down the entire length of my leg creating a general numbness. This has occurred on and off over the past day. It is especially bad when laying down. Any ideas on the cause or treatment of the pain? The pain is mild but certainly cause some discomfort.

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
hello,
thanks for writing to HCM,

In the above provided description i would tell you to start noticing some skin colour changes in your leg when you feel numbness for that pulsating pain. if skin colour is also changing (to pale, bluish, reddish pink from your normal skin colour ) kindly see physician nearby you because then you will be needing some tests regarding your problem.

And if there is no skin colour change, then this problem can be related to musculoskeletal structures like your stretched nerves or muscles, which can ruled out by doing clinical examination including some neural and muscular stretch tests, which can be performed by a physical therapist.
and if it due to this above mentioned cause, a physical therapist can help you.

hope this answers your query
wish you good health
