Random Intense Pain In Groin Area, Radiating To Legs, Difficulty In Walking. Active In Sports. Cause Of Pain?

I get random intense aching and pain to my groin area and it radiates down to the left leg and sometimes to the right., but not on both legs at the same time. These random pains have become persistent. The pain lasts 2 to 3 hours. It is difficult to get up and walk when the pain is present. I've been experiencing this pain for over a year now and I'm only 17 years old. I'm very active in sports. I'm currently training for football in high school. What could be causing the pain?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, it appears to be due to arthritis or lumbar spondylodsis causing pressure on the sciatic nerves of both sides at different times. i advise you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for diagnosis and treatment. You may need to have M.R.I for confirmation. Thank you.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. Saurabh Gupta's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us
From description radiating pain seems to be due to compression of nerve root.It would help if you can see a doctor who can carry out an examination and some tests to pinpoint the affected nerve and its reasons to get effected and take appropriate measures.
Hope this helps you.
Regards.
Dr Saurabh Gupta.
