Reason For Difficulty In Urinating After Circumcision?

Hi Doctor, I am 50 years old and had circumcision 6 days ago because of phimosis. From the day after I am having difficulty urinating. I have to concentrate a lot before I start peeing and it comes out in a fine stream. I feel like the whole area is blocked. Sometimes my pee sprays in all directions. I visited my urologist 2 days after the procedure and told him about my experience. He said that he suspects that I have BXO. He said to let things settle down and see him in 10 days time. I am very uncomfortable and worried. I feel as if I am not emptying my bladder completely. Before the circumcision, I was urinating good. My pee was not coming out in a fine jet. I went to my GP and he said that the area is infected and gave me antibiotic tablet and a cream. Can you please help me understand what might be happening? Thanks in advance.

Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have undergone circumcision 6 days back and now has difficulty in passing urine and spraying of urinary stream .
This is most likely to be due to blocking of external urinary meatus d by an exudate which does happen after circumcision.

Try to open up the meatus gently with cotton swab soaked in warm water every time before you pass urine.

Take antibiotics like Cefotaxime and anti inflammatory medications like Diclofenac twice daily .

I think it should get resolved within a week.

As regards BXO Do you have white patches on glans penis ?

Dr.Patil.
