Reason For Mid-cycle Bleeding After Depo-Provera Injection?

Hi I had my quarterly Depo-Provera injection around the 20th of December, however I have now started having a heavy period which is not due for another month and a half! Does this mean that the injection has worn of early? I do currently have some ovarian cysts which are being removed, could that be the reason of an early menstruation?
Thanks

Functional ovarian cyst if they are hormone producing can have such early menstruation.
There is no cause for concern. It should settle down once cyst are removed.
