Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello -I live in Mexico and have recently been diagnosed with Colitis. My Dr. has prescribed Trimebutina, which makes me VERY tired and takes away all appetite. I have lost 5 pounds in 6 days.Trimebutina helps with unformed stool, excessive gas, bloating and belching, but even with one half of a pill, 100mg I sweat, tremble and sleep too much. What is an alternative to Trimebutina?Thank you, Renarde
I really appreciate your concern. Timebutine is used for Irritable bowel syndrome and it is the weak opioid drug may cause the drowsiness, if it is the condition of IBS and the drugs given for this condition can cause the drowsiness, still Hyoscymine or Dicyclomine can be tried (If it is the IBS ) condition or else in my opinion you can talk to your physician because if it is the colitis then underlying cause of it would be matter of concern.
Hope this helps. I will be happy to assist if you have further queries.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain Shaikh
