Reconstructed Inner Knee With Surgery By Steel Or Titanium. Should They Feel Numb ?
Good morning, my husband recently ( 1 month) had surgery performed on his knees. The knees were cut open and, by the looks of it, they have reconstructed the knees with stainless steel or titanium, on the inner knee. His query is, should they feel numb? When he kneels down on them (briefly mind you), he says they feel really numb. He is doing all the exercises the physio has given him to do, and he sees the physio every fortnight as well as using a circulation booster. Will this numbness go away at all?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Lohit K's Response
Hi, Thanks for using HCM. The numbness may be present because knee replacement surgery where in the sensitive tissue is being replaced with non sesitive metal. It will decrease with time. Take prescribed drugs regularly and have plenty of fluids, nutritious diet with required calorie and regular informed exercises. Hope I answered your question. Consult your doctor for further management. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries. Wish you good health. Take care.
Regards Dr. Lohit K
