Recurring Eustachian Tube Dysfunction, Diagnosed To Be Retracted Ear Drum. Will It Return To Normal?

I have been having recurrent right ear eustachian tube dysfunction. Was told I have a slightly retracted ear drum...can it return to normal, in time, with using the Veramyst and Sudafed (generic), along with guaifenisen and netipot rinses? I was diagnosed non-allergic rhinitis, so also...is it useless to use Benadryl, or doe Benadryl also help? I want to do everything I possibly can... I am a Celiac and do not consume either gluten or dairy. I take calcium citrate and magnesium malate because I do not eat dairy.

Hello dear,

Eustachian tube is a connecting tract between the nasopharynx & middle ear.
Any dysfunction of this Eustachian tube leads to ear drum retraction due to un-equalisation of pressure between the nasopharynx & middle ear.

The most common cause for dysfunction is rhinitis-both allergic & non allergic.
And the treatment is directed towards controlling the rhinitis.
Benadryl being an antihistamine helps in subsiding the inflammatory process.
So, the medications prescribed by your doctor are correct...please continue them as advised.

Meanwhile...avoid taking cold food & drinks, maintain adequate hydration & take healthy nutrition.
