Recurring Lice Causing Intense Itching On Scalp, No Improvement With Vacuum, Steam Cleaning, Shampoo. How Can I Get Rid Of It?
Daughter came home with lice (last day of school) about 3 weeks ago. Have vacummed, steam cleaned, used rid and nix, launder with hot water and high heat in the dryer. Nobody in house seems to have lice anymore, but me. Every time I treat, they seem to come back. I m like a lice magnet. How do I get rid of these pests? I itch so much that I cannot sleep.
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic, Nix ( Permethrin 1% creamy) rinse is the medicine of choice. Apply it half an hour before bath to entire scalp and hair and cover with a towel. Wash it off with shampoo and comb with a fine bristled comb. Repeat the treatment after one week to tackle the newly hatched lice from the nits. Another treatment which works is Bactrim DS tablets twice a day for two weeks. This is a sulfa drug and you need a prescription for it. Hope this helped Take care.
