Recurring Vaginal Folliculitis. Suggested Sitting In Warm Bath With Baking Soda. Advice?
I was diagnosed with vaginal folliculitis earlier this year. My gynecologist didn't prescribe me any treatment other than advising me to sit in a warm bath with baking soda often. While this does help the folliculitis keeps reoccurring. I am guilty of popping them which I assume can lead to more but I'd like to know what will get rid of it once and for all?
I am so sorry to hear about these recurrent folliculitis. The truth is there is no one tie treatment that can guarantee you not to have this in future. ost treatments can only limit the frequency and severity of episodes. As your doctor rightly did, drugs don't really help except if the infection becomes extensive. Stepping personal hygiene especially around the perineal area and vaginal through regular change of under wears, disinfection the area like the sitz bath with baking soda, avoiding local irritation like always manipulating already present sore, shaving too low with a blade or machine, etc.
II hope this helps and provides more information that you can act on to keep this condition under control. If you have any more concerns, please return to us and we shall gladly address them. I wish you well. Dr. Ditah, MD
