Red, Inflamed Spot On Mouth, Adjacent To Uvula, Bleeding. Tonsillectomy Done. Causes?

My wife has a red inflamed looking spot on the left posterior portion of her mouth, adjacent to her uvula . She had a tonsillectomy in the past and has small white patches at the back of her throat. It bleeds if you push on it she says. About 6 months ago she had the same thing and had it tested for strep and it was negative she is wondering what it is/what to do. At that time they didn t culture it, only tested it for strep. Thanks

ENT Specialist 's  Response
HI I have gone through your mail as you said that your wife had developed a red congested spot on the side of uvula after tonsellectomy operation which bleeds on touching. I am suspecting that your wife is having post operative slough in tonsillar fossa which is whitish in colour and area adjacent to it is congested and reddish spot which bleeds on touch. you should contact your concerned E.N.T.doctor to find out the real fact, it may be secondary haemorrhage due to secondary infection or it is reactionary haemorrhage and accordingly that should be managed by your doctor. Thanks.
