Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis Patient Gets Pain In Sternum. Suggested EGD. Is It Ulcer?
I am 79 years old and I am having pain on my sternum, I also have rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, but this pain comes if I press on the area. do you think it could be an ulcer. I eat very well very healthy, I do have COPD, I do not smoke anymore, my doctor wants me to have a EGD, I am scared, I do not think it is an ulcer.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Manjula R's Response
Hi, you are getting treatment for the arthritis problem, so you might be taking analgesics from quiet a long time. and this drugs will cause gastritis and ulcer formation. if your physician is suspecting analgesic induced ulcer, better to undergo EGD for ruling out this. wish you good health.
