Right Arm, Shoulder Weakness, Inflammation, Nagging Pain. Right Breast Mastecomy Done. Lymphatic Massage, Stretching Exercises Helpful. Advise?

Hi,
After a right breast mastecomy (and 3 lymph nodes removed) and reconstruction and emergency surgery for an infection 12 and 13 months ago I have continuing right arm and shoulder weakness, with inflammation and nagging pain around my right side and under arm areas; if I over use or injure myself doing too much, I am filled with severe pain. Lymphatic massage and gentle stretching exercises help somewhat if I am not hurting. Why is my healing and recovery so complicated? Why do I have chronic pain? What more can I do to reduce the inflammation and pain? Thank you.

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The presence of pain and weakness in the right arm could be related to a nerve compression or an obstruction in the lymphatic drainage. Since you had mastectomy earlier, spread of tumor needs to be ruled out.
