Robot Assisted Prostatectomy Done, Using JP Drain. Having Incision Beside The Drain And There Is Steady Small Flow Of Clear Light Yellow. Concern?
my husband had a robot assisted prostatectomy 10 days ago. His JP drain is still in and fills about 100cc per hour. Now, he is leaking what appears to be the same fluid from the incision closest to the drain and it appears to me to have a hernia type appearance. This incision is leaking rapidly, a steady small flow - drenching a wad of gauze per 15 min or so. drainage is clear light yellow - looks identical to the jp drain output.
Sorry to hear about your husband's problem. The JP drains after prostatectomy do drain for a few days and it varies from patient to patient. If drain like fluid is coming out of the incision, then either the wound could be infected or the drain could be blocked. Is her running fever? If the problem persists, it is best to declot the drain or open the wound.
Hoping for the best. Please feel free to clarify any other query.
