Ruptured Achilles Tendon After A Fall. Severe Pain In The Leg. Recovery Period?

Oh hello I ruptured my Achilles Tendon in late January from slipping on the floor I had plaster for 8 weeks and my foot was set at an angle so I could not put it flat. It has been quite traumatic had to go in wheelchair for a while. Had 10 weeks off work I am a school teacher and my leg is very painful at times and I get very anxious with the children knocking it etc. What is the rehab time and when do you think it will all be back to normal?

Hello,
thanks for using health care magic

The achille's tendon is a very powerful tendon and so important in movement. Traumatic rupture s generally treated by special suturing and immobilisation which i guess was done. However, its been over four months yet you still complain of pain. Normally three months is good enough for an appreciable healing.
The persistence of pain warrants a detail examination to rule out associated fractures that might have mal-union or non-union or associated nerve injuries.

It will thus be good to meet an orthopedic surgeon or at least your doctor for re-evaluation.

Best regards
Dr Achuo
