Ruptured Blood Vessel In Right Eye At Gym. Should I Give Up Weight Lifting ?
I worked our extra hard at the gym, then I had a ruptured blood vessel in my right eye, A retina specialist examined my eye two days later. He said there was too much blood stain and could not get a full examination of my eye. From what he did see, there was no apparent emergency, and the doctor said that I should come back in two weeks to see if it was beginning to clear up.
So - do I have to give up weight lifting completely (I've been doing upper and lower body exercises by lifting heavy weights for my body size for three years now, and this has never happened), or should I go to doing more repetitions with lighter weight?
Hello It seems from the history that you have vitreous hemorrhage because of rupture of blood vessel. The main treatment is by observation as majority of them can get cleared over a period of 3 months. But you need to be evaluated other predisposing diseases like diabetes, hypertension, bleeding diseases.... Till the vitreous hemorrhage is cleared avoiding weights, heavy physical exercises should be discontinued as there is a chance for rebleed.
Hence I advice you to stop lifting weights till the condition gets cured.
Thank you
