Scan Shows Thick Endometrium. Normal?

Hi, I am on cycle day 27, on day 24 of my cycle (usual cycle lenght 28) I had a scan which showed that my endometrium was 23mm thick. The doctor proceeded to say that this was normal but when I researched this I found that this was not normal at all. What would your opinion be on why it would be this thick. I am aged 34 and have 3 children. We are currently trying for our 4 baby.

Thanking you in advance.

Hi ! Thickened endormetrium may be a normal phenomena during the preovulatory period of your cycle. You have not mentioned the reason for your going for an ultrasound. Have you had increased bleeding during your cycle or any other related problem for which you were advised ultrasound ? In that case and in case of persisting symptoms, you may have to get yourself reviewed by your gynaecologist, who may advise you for an endometrial biopsy just rule out any pathological problem. Wishing you an early recovery.
