Scratch By An Infant On Arm. Possibility Of Rabies, Requirement Of Anti- Tetanus Shot?

Greetings! My 2-month old who was so excited to see me arrived from work innocently had me scratched on my arm . i didn t notice the scratch until the morning and it wasn t deep at all. I wasn t worried about it at first but now im so scared. i didnt go for a doctor to consult about this. Can i get rabies from this scratch? can i still go for an anti- tetanus shot? you,re immediate response regarding this matter will truly be aprreciated. Thank You.

Hi there, hope you are having fun your 2month old puppy(I am assuming its apuppy). First of all if you have procured your pet from a certified breeder and have been taking him to the vet and regularly for vaccination then you need not worry about getting rabies from a small scratch which has not drawn blood. If you have received you anti tetanus shot in the last 5 years then you do not need to take it again as you are already immunised. Take good care of your pet, vaccinate it as per schedule and if it does scratch you take first aid by washing it thoroughly with soap water or an antiseptic solution. Take care and have fun.

if the scratch is by ur 2 mth old child, then dont worry about rabies.. u just take anti tetanus inj nd a sofra ointment..u wil be fine .. bt if it is ur pet dog then u need to go for anti rabies inj alongwith TT inj..

man to man transmission of rabies is extremely a rare entity..that too with a small scratch doesn't trasmit.
If in the query bitten is by small puppy then go for anti rabies vaccine according to the course i.e.,0 3 7 14 28 days..
and also vaccine your pet dog at your veterinary doctor..
