Seizure. Using Midazolam Nasal Spray, Spray Got Banned. History Of Steven Johnson Syndrome. Any Alternate Spray?

Sir,
2 years back my nephew suffered with steven johnson syndrome & his life saved after a lot of efforts. Now once in a month he is suffering with seizure & for the curing of the same docter suggested to use the midazolam nasal spray. After using child become o.k. with-in 3-5 minutes but now problem is this that this nasal sparay has been banned. Pls. suggest what nasal spray can be used as a alternate? it's very urgent.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

At present research is being conducted into the use of diazepam (valium) as a nasal spray for seizures.
It has been used for a long time to as an oral agent or iv in continuous seizures for the acute event.

A recent study showed that it is effective when given as a nasal spray.

You may want to speak to the neurologist involved to find out whether this option is available.
