It would be very important to get a careful examination and evaluation of the pain. An appropriate early diagnosis will tailor treatment and prevent any frequently encountered complications.
Doing an X ray of the HIp is the first examination of choice., Other blood tests like the erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C rP could be needed to know if its of rheumatologic origin or not., getting an idea of degree of inflammation, With the history of cancer in the family, and the bones being a predilected destination for cancers, doing an Alkaline phosphatase serum test, a bone enzyme could give us a good indication.,
Blood electrolytes, especially Calcium levels would be of great help. Consult your internist for a good clinical review and tailored blood and radiologic tests.
Thanks and hope this helps, Best regards, Luchuo, MD.
