Severe Diarrhea After Taking Dolobid For Pain Due To Oral Surgery, With History Of Taking Two Pills Of Z-pack. Any Thoughts?

I took two pills of he Z-pack today before oral surgery because I must pre-medicate because of a knee replacement. The oral surgeon prescribed 500 mg. dolobid for pain, and after taking three of these pills, I am experiencing severe, uncontrollable diarrhea. Is it the dolobid or the Z-pack that is causing this?

Emergency Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.

After reading your post, I would like to inform you that the diarrhea is caused by the antibiotic azithromycin (z pack).

Antibiotic like azithromycin disturb the normal flora of useful bacteria present in the intestines. These bacteria help in the process of digestion and absorption.

I would advise that you should take a probiotic for relief from your symptoms.

Taking curd or yoghurt daily will also be helpful.

I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
