Severe Heart Burn, Pain In The Throat, Cavity Pain In The Back Of Jaw. What Could It Be?
This has been going for some time now , maybe weeks , severe heart burn and pain in the throat when i burp gas , aslo i use to smoke and quit and started feeling these symptops worsen, When i drink milk its fine or when i carry some tums it does the trick, but now i am starting to get a cavity pain in the back of my jaw by the left side as if the last tooth is in pain but only when i am eating. please help
The symptoms suggest that you might be having Gastro esophageal reflux disease, which is caused by the reflux of acid from stomach to esophagus due to relaxation of the sphincter at the lower part of esophagus.
Management consists of: 1. Lifestyle modification- like weight reduction, sleeping on the left side, or with upper body raised. 2. Dietary modification- avoid consuming irritating substances such as acidic & rich foods, caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol. 3. Medical management- Proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole, Pantoprazole (which prevent acid formation in stomach)
