Severe Pain In Shoulder, Upper Arm And Chest After Accident. Some Relief With Pain Medicines And Muscle Relaxers

I was involved in a car accident 1-1-14. There was trauma to the left neck area(seat belt), left shoulder, left upper arm, and left upper chest/wall. I have been in pain since the accident, but I have been trying to manage this with the pain meds and muscle relaxers that were prescribed. My pain is sharp sometimes to the upper mid-section of my abdemon also. Please tell me what you think or if this is normal for this kind of trauma. Thank You

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
I am so sorry to hear about this accident and the pains you have been having.
I will like too suggest that consult an orthopedic surgeon who would do a proper exam and ask for informative tests so as to map out what the exact problem is. unless we know the problem, we can not adequately manage it.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
