Severe Pain In Tailbone, Taking Lupron, Laxative. Fibroids, Cyst In Ovary, Pelvic Congestion, Fluid Collection In Uterus. Cure?

I have been taking lupron for 2 months and I'm experiencing worse pain in my tailbone area, taking daily laxatives and the pain is only relieved after laying down for several hours. I have a moderate sized fibroid on my left ovary, cyst on my right ovary, pelvic congestion, and a retoverted uterus with multiple areas within my uterus that have fluid collections. The pain feels like pressure, and is worse when standing. The pain has increased significantly over the last two months and I'm beginning to think I need to reconsider the injections. I'm in tears by the end of the day and I've had to limit my walking/running routine. Any thoughts?

Hi,
Thanks for using HCM.

I am extremely sorry for your pain and agony and I do understand what your are going through.
From the description of the condition of your uterus and ovaries it seems that you are having one of the following two conditions:
1. Mutiple fibroids: It is rare to have fibroids in the ovary. If the size is moderate, they are unlikely to shrink with lupron. The fibroids along with the retroverted uterus may be causing pelvic congestion and leading to pain.

2. Endometriosis: this is a condition where the menstrual blood like tissue starts to grow in areas other than the uterus, for example the tubes, ovaries and areas adjacent to the uterus and produces cysts and fluid collection. It causes adhesions, congestion and pain that is worst during the menstruation. If the disease progresses, the pain becomes continuous.

You also have fluid collections inside the uterine cavity. If a patient like you walks into my clinic, I would give an analgesic like ibuprofen to temporarily relieve the pain. Next I would do a laparo- hysteroscopy to confirm the diagnosis and also remove the uterine fluid and send it for analysis. In case of either the fibroid or the endometriosis, if it is not getting controlled with lupron, the next approach is surgery.

I hope I was able to help you. Feel free to submit any further queries that you may have and it was a pleasure to answer your question.
