Hi there,
Thank you for choosing healthcare magic.
Before I am able to completely give an answer to your question, I would like to ask you a few questions.
Why was a brain
ultrasound done on your friends's baby? What kind of shadow was seen and you can tell me the exact wordings of the report of the ultrasound?
Are there any symptoms of unusual activity or movements shown by the baby?
Is the baby born prematurely?
Did your friend have a normal delivery without any complications?
How did the baby do after being born- whether she had any breathing difficulties, what was her color or if you know her
apgar scores and was she discharged home on time or did she have any difficulties leading to NICU care or special care nursery?
What is the
birth weight of the baby and what is the current age of the baby?
If I could get the answers of the above questions, I would be able to guide you in the right direction.
Having said that, if the baby is born very prematurely, then as part of routine, an ultrasound of the brain of the baby is done depending on how premature the baby is- and in that case if they saw something suspicious they will probably repeat it in a few weeks time to see if it is an artefact or if there is any pathology.
You can get back with me with the answers and I would be able to guide you better.
Best wishes to you, your friend and her baby.
Kind regards,
Dr. Sumeet.
