Shall I Continue Taking Ofloaxcin?

i had uti for first time and i got the urine culture done it showed large amount of pus cells, so i started ofloaxcin for 14 days and i got my urine routine done after finishing antibiotic course and it is still showing 3-5 pus cells and ph of 8.0 so i now am getting urince culture examination done. So should i continue talking ofloaxcin or should i wait for the report which will come after two days and than i start my antibiotic based on the culture report. Now i am facing pain in the lower abdomen

Hi and welcome to HCM..
Thank you for posting your query..
I read your question completely and have understood it well..

I being a surgeon, we encounter so many such cases.
I suggest you not to take any antibiotic unless you get culture report.

Look, 3 to 5 pus cells are almost normal.
If you have had, plenty of pus cells then I would be the first one to advise you to start antibiotics.
But upto 5 is largely considered normal..

Pain in the lower abdomen may indicate two things concerning to your Uti
1. The previous episode is resolving
2. A new episode has started.

Generally, after 14 days of treatment Uti will subside.
So it's wise to wait for 2 more days, get a culture report and then see what organism it is, what antibiotic is best and then start the treatment.

In all likelihood, this time if at all you test positive for culture, there may be a different organism and different antibiotic.
We never know..
But I hope, it's a resolving old episode..

Hope this helps you, in case you need any further information on this. Please let me know..
Take care and God bless..
