Shaved My Pubic Area. Now Have Severe Itching, Walking Is Difficult. Used Aqueous Cream. Herpes?
I shaved very closely but safely around my pubic area right upto where the hairs end before the vulva/labia almost 12 days ago now. After two days I have been through severe itching where stumble is, the vulva itself and following this once the hair grew back it appeared to be piercing and slicing the delicate skin, the skin became hard like leather and puckered almost, walking has been difficult without needing to find a lavatory to free the area of the hair and apply aqueous cream. It has felt better in the last two days but now burns like a friction burn when I walk (and can feel the hair there, rubbing). Ive since had a look with a mirror and although the dryness has gone im left with red skin within the folds and it looks as if patches if skin have peeled off. I've been worried that it could be herpes the longer it's gone on as my partner suffers from cold sores.
Following shaving of the pubic region, some women may get allergic reaction through shaving objects. Here, you can apply aloe vera gel or 1% hydrocortisone cream locally for soothing effect.
To clear confusion, you may undergo complete STD panel including test for herpes. Please consult with your doctor regarding this. Maintain genital hygiene properly.
Be well. Good luck.

Hi Thanks for using HCM.
The findings you explained after shaving till friction burn when you walk is normal phenomenon due to shaving. Red skin with in folds, I hope its labial folds. This is normal labia minora. You dont have herpes, dont worry.
With in couple of days the pain itching and discomfort will go. Hope I answered your question and clarified all your query. Wish you good health. Take care.
Regards Dr.Lohit
