Shooting Pain In The Ankle While Playing. Need Immediate Help
Hello! So I was playing football about three weeks ago and my ankle got this shooting pain and kind of gave out, causing me to fall. After I walked it out, the pain stuck around and still comes every now and then when I'm active. It's like a shooting pain that'll go away when I walk too much or play football and move the wrong way! I'm not sure what it would be but it hurts! Can you help?

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist, Baljeet Kaur's Response
hi
thanks for writing to HCM
the reason for shooting pain in your ankle can be a soft tissue injury around the ankle and this means your ankle ligaments or tendons could have got hurt (sprained)when you were playing football.
As you didn't mentioned that in the last 3 weeks you had taken any treatment, so i am supposing that you are not on any kind of treatment.
for this problem you can see a physical therapist who can find out the soft tissue injury and thereby treat it.
if this doesn't help you can go for a MRI of your ankle to find out the exact cause and can take treatment accordingly.
kindly do not ignore your pain as ankle pain is common in footballers and if ignored it can be problematic for you.
i hope this answers your query
wish you good health
