hi dr, i am a 28yrs old unmarried girl.for last few 4-5 months, i was having some problem in my periods.period started on time, but ended in 1 or 2 days only.and after that there was severe pain in my lower abdomen. this month i visited gynecologist.she prescribed for USG in pelvis. USG report says there is a cyst of size 3.72*2.63 in right overy, that may be endometritic cyst.then she suggested for CA 125 blood test.test report shaw elevated value from ref. range.the value was 39.2 U/ml.then my gynecologist confirmed me that it is endometriotic cyst and it has tendency to recur again even after operation. so she prescribed me "ovrall" oral contraceptive tablet for 3 months.and suggested to get married as early as possible.please tell me what to do? what are the complications in future???
Hi, Thanks for contacting HCM You are 28yrs old unmarried girl. Problem in periods for the last few 4-5 months. USG - ?endometrial cyst of size 3.72*2.63 in right ovary. CA125-39.2 U/ml. and you are on "ovrall" oral contraceptive tablet for 3 months. These all finding suggestive of endometrial cyst. Best solution for this is to get married as early as possible. because main aim of therapy is to reduces the frequency of ovulation.
hi, Endometriosis is a common problem in young women and causes irregular periods and pain along with difficulty to conceive.Your doctor is right and it does have to a tendency to recur.Your cyst is not large enough to warrant a operation. I suggest you take the OCP for 3cycles and repeat the usg after 3 months. Since there is a conception problem, which may get worse with age, she has suggested you get married and have children. There is nothing serious about this which cannot be managed.
