I was bitten by a dog 7 days ago. Three days ago I started a series of injections including the a rabies vaccine shot and a human rabies immune globluin shots. Tomorrow I will get a another shot of the the rabies vaccine and then another shot in three days and another shot three days later. My concern is that I drank alcohol the last two evenings and I am worried that my alcohol consumption my mitiage the effects of my first round of shots. Should I be concerned and should I avoid alcohol during my vaccination program.
No it is not going to affect your vaccination effecf. As alcohol not cause any direct effects on immune system Your vaccination has to do with your immune system. So you can take it. However I don' t want to miss the chance to make you understand that excess alcohol can worse your health in many other ways by damaging your GI system directly specifically liver. 42% alcohol bevereges 50 ml per day for a man is optimum dose according to some study. Consult your doctor ,be examined and undergo liver function test and ultrasound to prevent any hazard due to alcohol and then continue.
