Should I Be Concerned About My Baby's Poor Milk Intake And Presence Of Mucus In Stools?
Hello Doctor,
My baby who is 2 months old is not taking milk properly since yesterday. We have done stool test on Dec 9th and found mucus present in his motion. We used medicines prescribed by doctor and when we repeated the test on 31st Dec, the result is as follows:
Color: Greenish Consistency: Semi Solid Blood(RBC s): NOT SEEN Pus Cells: 1-2/HPF Mucus: Absent Trophozoites: Not Seen Ova: Not Seen Cysts: Not Seen Benidict's test: Positive 1+ Fatglobules: Present
Is it something wrong with my baby? I am worried. Please comment.
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. The stool examination is almost normal. As reducing sugars are present(benedicts 1+) lactose containing foods like milk to be avoided, You may use Zerolac or Soya bean milk in place of mother's milk or formula milk. Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
