Should I Be Concerned About Pale Stools, Blood Only Once , Loss Of Apetite And Unusual Fatigue Inspite Of Fibre Rich Diet?
For the last week I have had pale colored stools. I had a stomach virus a couple of weeks ago with. A couple of days ago my stool had bright red blood but only occurred once. I take Miralax and fiber to avoid constipation because of adhesions from surgeries. I have had several bowel obstructions but so far have managed to resolve without surgery. Is this anything to be concerned about? No cramping or nausea, but loss of appetite and extreme, unusual fatigue.
The brown colour of stool is related to the presence of bile pigment in the stool.
Pale stools may indicate that there is reduced bilary pigments in the stool. This may be related to abnormalities of the liver, gallbladder or pancreas. There are different potential causes.
You should consider visiting your doctor for an assessment which would include physical examination , liver function tests and imaging.
I hope this helps
