Should I Be Concerned About Stiffness And Popping Sensation In The Neck?

I am a 56 year old female in good health, but lately I ve notice my neck area feels stiff and restricted, and when I bend my head straight back it makes a click and when I bend my neck forward I can feel it release a little in one point where it feels like it catches and I can always seem to crack one or two parts of my spine if I do a sit-up crunch kind of manouvre. Any ideas whether this is of concern?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief. It could be a cervical spondylitis. Consult an orthopedic and plan for an MRI cervical spine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
