Should I Be Concerned About Stomach Cramps For 2 Days That Worsens While Moving Around, Radiating To My Back Apart From Diarrhea And Vomiting?

Hi - I’ve had stomach cramping for 2 days. The pain is worse if I move around. It is radiating to my back. Diarrhea too. No fever. One week ago I had similar symptoms with vomiting for 2 days. I thought I was better but now it is back. Should I be concerned?

Hello,

1) Stomach cramp, frequent episodes of diarrhea and vomiting suggest you might have gastro-enteritis secondary to food poisoning, food allergy or intestinal infection.
2) If you have recent history of travel (change of food source), camping (partially cooked food) then possibility of infection related gastroenteritis is high. Without travel history, possibility of food allergy is high.
3) Yes this is a concern and you should visit your GP to run some basic routine blood test and stool examination.
4) As a self measure, you should drink more liquids (maintain hydration), use probiotic supplement, use of anti-spasmodic pain-killer (based on severity of pain)

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Happykumar Kagathara, Gastrointestinal Surgeon
