Should I Be Concerned For Passing Worm In Bowel Movement?

I work at a tanning salon, I thought maybe I came across a parasite from cleaning the beds and sweat of other people. I swear the other day I ha a worm in my bowel movement and it did not look like a pin worm to me. I tried to get a better look and tried to poke it with a straw (I wanted to investigate) (also threw the straw away) but when I touched it a few times nothing happened then I went to try to scoop it out and it darted away from my straw. Now I m scared

Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

There's nothing to be scared. It is common to have worms infestation following accidental ingestion of food contaminated with worms' eggs.

A simple, single-tablet course of Albendazole (400mg) (to be chewed and then swallowed with water) will get rid of intestinal worms. However, I would recommend that you repeat single-tablet course after 3 days.

Get your stools tested for presence of ova/cyst of any worm, a week after the last dose of the deworming agent. A negative report will confirm cure of the infestation.

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.

Take care
