Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Should I Be Concerned For Toddler Not Passing Stools For 2 Days?
My 11 month old baby didnt pass any stool for two days aside from a couple little nuggets and now for the last three days he has had 3-4 full diapers a day of runny pale yellow awful smelling poo. He doesnt act like he is sick. Will this pass or is there something wrong?
After reading your post, I would like to advise that you should get his stool examined for evidence of any infection in the gastrointestinal tract.
Sometimes constipation is followed by episode of diarrhoea but if they are continuing for last 3 days and associated with foul smell, I would advise for a stool examination.
Also get him clinically examined by his Paediatrician. Most importantly, you should maintain his hydration.
If infection is present he may need antibiotic, antiamoebic along with a probiotic for relief.
I hope this is helpful to you. Thanks.
