Should I Be Concerned With Nausea, Lightheaded Feeling And Constant Heartburn ?
The other day, I started feeling nausea, then less than hour later I started getting chills, then a 3rd symptom, being lightheaded, then heartburn started to set in, then in few hours I had dry heaves for about 10 minutes. The illness finally ended a few hours later with diarrhea lasting about 2 hours. For the last 24 hours, following the illness, I've had almost constant heartburn. What illness did I contract and should be concerned that this will cause long term heartburn?
Hi, thank you for asking Healthcare Magic. With this presentation, it is possible that it is an infection whose cause needs to be determined. When the body is subjected to stress (including diseases), ulcers can developed in the stomach called stress ulcers. This might be the cause of the heartburn you feel now. Proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole and also antacids can be of help but for the other symptoms, I would suggest that you see a GP for proper assessment and management.
I hope I have answered your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. We will be delighted to answer more questions from you. I wish you good health
