Should I Be Worried About An Insect Bite Behind The Thigh?

Last night a bat fly fell on my thighs, woke up, went to next room to grab something to kill it, while entering back to my room, I felt a bite on my right back thigh, didn't know if it was a mosquito or a bat fly bite. I checked the spot & observed no bleeding. Should I be worried?

Hi,

First of all, have a close examination of the area of the bite.

In case if there is any lump formation or pain and itching in the localized area with no other symptoms then you need not worry as it can be a localized reaction due to the bite.

If there is a localized reaction causing pain and itching then you can apply a steroid based ointment like Betnovate GM over it.

Do cool compresses over the area. In case if there is itching then try avoiding not to scratch vigorously as it can cause a spread of infection.

If the symptoms worsen or there are some other symptoms like increasing rashes, dizziness, choking etc immediately consult an Emergency room and get checked.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
