Should I Be Worried About Lumps And Swollen Lymph Nodes In The Armpits?

Hi, Im a 27 year old female and Ive just discovered when lying down with my arms up that there is quite a noticable size lump (golf ball) which is hard, painless and immovable in both my armpits. One is bigger than the other and I can feel little lymph nodes that are swollen under the skin near the surrounding area. Is this something I should be worried about?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Hard lymphnode may be suggestive of malignancy from surrounding tissues like breast, skin and soft tissue. Other possibilities like infection, lymphadenitis in inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis or lupus etc. Please check your nipples and breast , please consult your surgeon he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
