Should I Consult A Doctor For Bleeding From The Rectum For Few Hours?

Today, for the first time, I starting bleeding from the rectum. Clear red blood on my tissue. Not in the stool. I would wipe several times, and there would be a stop of bright red blood, the size of a quarter. This went on for a few hours. Should I call my doctor tomorrow? I'm 69 yrs. old. Have had no previous problems. I don't feel a tare in my rectom.

Hi, thanks for using HCM.

Common cause for fresh blood are hemorrhoids(pain less) and fissure(painful). One or two episodes of bleeding is not to worry. Need to take lot of fluid and fiber rich diet. Avoid straining.
If it repeats need to consult doctor for examination and management.
