Should I Fast To Treat Gastroenteritis?

Hi..My husband who has type 2 diabetes is currently suffering from gastroenteritis. I myself had this last week.!
Should he follow a starvation day, with only fluids to drink,or must he eat because of the diabetes?
He is 53yrs old, 1.78 metres, 89 kilos..

I suggest you to do:
-a blood tetest
-a stool test to rule out the cause of gastroenteritis
Meanwhile I suggest you to:
-Take over the counter medication such as Imodium
-Take probiotics
-drink liquids
