Should I Opt For MRI For Severe Lower Back Pain And Stiffness?

Pt for severe severe DDD at L4-5 S-1 has removed pain and restored function. But unexpectdly without apparent cause severe lower back pain and stiffness. Difficult to find any comfortable position. Walking difficult but the more I walk, I notice some improvement. Once I stop moving, it all returns. Question: Does this need a new owrk-up or MRI or go back to pt for heat, stim and ultra-sound and see what happens. Thanks Doug.. 61 years old...otherwise excellent health and fitness

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
A severe lower back pain can be related to herniated disc or a nerve root compression. You need to consider doing an MRI scan for proper diagnosis. Keep yourself well hydrated.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
