Should I Switch To Maintenance Calories To Reach My Goal Weight?
I am 6.2 lbs from my goal weight of 125lbs. I eat 1450 calories a day and strength train 4 days a week, 30min of cardio 5 days a week. My weight loss has slown down dramatically the past month, going from losing 2lbs a week to less than half a pound a week. Should I go to maintance calories for awhile and finish up or push through until I reach goal weight? I m 5 2, 43 years old. current weight 131.2, goal weight 125.
Typically, after an initial rapid weight loss, a plateau sets in as the body adjusts to dietary and physical changes. This also happens when the calories you burn through exercise equals the calories you take in.
In order to combat this plateau, you can break out of your routine and try something new to shock your body; such as intermittent fasting, trying new exercise routines and such. It would also be recommended to manage stress, avoid alcohol, limit carb consumption, try intermittent fasting and most of all, to track a record what you eat on a daily basis focusing more on the protein intake.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
